Porto in the northwest of Portugal is widely credited with being the birthplace of the nation. Founded in the 12th century, Porto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, brimming with tourist attractions and cultural riches such as Porto Cathedral and the Church of São Francisco, the port wine cellars, or Caves do Vinho do Porto, in Vila Nova de Gaia and the impressive Palácio de Bolsa. The 19th century stock market was erected to lure European investors to the north of Portugal and later converted into the palatial mansion it is today. Porto Airport, sometimes called Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, lies some 11 km northwest of the city center of Porto. Porto Airport is run by airport authority ANA.

Transfer Services at Porto Airport
Porto Airport is connected to the city of Porto via Metro Line E, the Purple Line, and Airport buses, lines 601, 602, 604 & 3M night route. Metro services run every 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of day. Bus services run approx. every 40 minutes.
The first Metro Line E service leaves Porto Airport at 5.58 am, the last one at 0.34 am. The first bus services arrive at the airport at 6.01 am, the last one at 0.25 am. Major car rental companies have their service stations at Porto Airport, too. Among those offering car hire fleets are Avis and Budget, Europcar, Goldcar, Guerin and Interrent, Rhodium, Hertz and Sixt. Their service teams are available from 7.00 am to midnight. The northwest of Portugal has a lot to offer in terms of historic cities and tourist attractions. Many beautiful towns lie within an hour's drive or less of Porto, such as Braga or Guimarães for example.
Shuttles also provide a cost-effective means of getting to and from the airport to the city of Porto. The shuttles provide door-to-door services between the airport and various hotels. They operate between the hours of 04.00 am and 00.35 am.Their counter at Porto Airport is open from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm every day. Drivers meet their customers at the end of the terminal at the counter, on the left hand side. Simply pass through the customs area, turn right and follow the exit signs. Customers who miss their scheduled departure time can take the next available shuttle (for bookings, please see www.100rumos.com or contact callcenter@100rumos.com, tel +351 960 426 692). The cost for a shuttle ride for one person is 12.00 euros, 9.00 euros for two people travelling.
If you're passing through Porto Airport as a departure passenger, you have several ways to check in in advance, via an App, at the self-service check-in stations at the airport or by going online to your airline's website. Check-in for flights within the Schengen area requires passengers to be at Porto Airport at least 90 minutes prior to their flight's departure. For non-Schengen flights, passengers should be at the airport at least 120 minutes earlier, for flights to 3rd countries, at least 180 minutes prior to departure.
Parking Services at Porto Airport
Parking at Porto Airport can be booked in advance via ANA. Prices start at just 6.50 euros a day, if you leave your vehicle in car park P9. The parking facility is part of the terminal building, so couldn't be closer or more convenient, if you are travelling with luggage. The first 15 minutes of parking cost 0.90 euros in P0, 0.70 euros in P1, 0.60 euros in P4, 0.50 euros in P6 and just 0.45 euros in parking facility P9.
